Missing

So Friday was my Mom's Birthday. We were all at her house getting dinner ready. I was inside cooking and everyone else was outside with the kids. Dan had to leave to get something at home so he left in the car. We only live about 8 blocks away from my mom's house. Not a straight shot, lots of turns. After about 5 - 10 mins. Amanda came and asked me if I had seen Nathan. I called Dan to see if he took him with him. He said no and that he would be right over. We started looking everywhere for him. Dan stayed in the car, Grandpa Chris got on his bike, Amanda and I started running yelling out his name. Mom stayed at home with Nora and Malia and called the police after about 20 mins of looking. I was freaking out!! I didn't think that he would have gone very far. We found him 10 mins later. Some lady found him 6 1/2 blocks away crying and walking around on the sidewalk. My Step Dad Chris found them and called me on my cell. He wouldn't talk to anyone for about a 30 mins after we found him. He had to cross at least one major roads and one set of railroad tracks!!! We were really scared because it was homcoming night and the traffic was pretty busy for Farley. We are thinking that he saw Dan leaving and followed and then got lost. I just don't know what to do with him! I was so greatful when we found him and then the rest of the night I was just so upset with him. We have been through this so many times, going over that you can go for walks by yourself, you can't leave without telling anyone, you never cross a street by your self!! I hope that this has stopped the adventure in him for awhile. We are going to get a micro chip implanted in him!! I wish I could! He is just too smart for his own good. Does anyone have any tips out there?

No. I am sorry. He is most assuredly the wanderlust sort. That is SCARY! I am so glad he is ok though. What kids won't put you through. Just think you will have great stories to engage your daughter in law someday and you will have so much compassion for her struggles raising kids. ; )

No ideas, but LOTS and LOTS of compassion!! That is very scary and I promise it can happen to the best of us moms. I, too, hope it's put the fear of God in him and that he'll stay put...well for awhile anyway. good luck!

Scary... We heard about it from your mom. I would have freaked out too. I'm glad he was ok. I lost Caleb in a corn maze for a couple of minutes the other day. I don't know the best way for moms to teach their kids to not run away yet. Just Pray:)

I am serious...you should get a child tracker. they make them now. they are gps systems for your children.

Here is a website for one..http://www.brickhousesecurity.com/locator.html

Olivia doesn't wander yet, I would lose my mind

I just keep reinterating how scary it was for mom and child. Imagine that Eddie Ray has pulled that before. It's hard to just let it go after your body and mind has been racing with what happened? Then their safe and sound and the what ifs come creeping in. Talk to him about how he felt not knowing where Mom and Dad were. I bet he felt the same as you except add to it wow I'm gonna be in trouble.
